Project 12 - August

Finally got my August page done for Project 12. I included pictures of the kid cousins at the Wainwright's 50th anniversary, Remi's baseball finishing up, first day of school for Remi and Peyton, and an incredibly hot day at the Rockies game that went on for 5+ hours and 13 innings but they won and we had a great day!!

August was so hot here. We had a record number of days in a row over 90 degrees. In other parts of the US they have been over 100 so I should not complain but it was hot. So, I decided to use my new Studio Calico kit and pick the "hot" papers out of it for this page. I cut the "fun in the sun" sun on my Silhouette along with the month and the flourishes which I hoped looked like heat waves. ;)

LOAD Day 9 - Halloween Day

Today's prompt was to use the scraps on your desk. This worked out great because it allowed me to get one more page for my book club next week done. I took photos from all the things we did on Halloween Day last year and made the page.

LOAD Day 7 & 8

Busy day yesterday and I didn't get the LOAD for yesterday posted. The prompt was to go back in time to the scrapbooking trends in 1997. Well, I just couldn't do that. And I had some Silly Bandz that Peyton had that were baseball themed and I "borrowed" a few of them to put on a page. I decided to do that page before she reclaimed her Silly Bandz.

I also skipped today's LOAD prompt. I have my LSS book club next week and need to get the pages made for that so I decided to use the paper from that for today's page. It is MM Halloween line. I looked in my oldest photos binder to find some olllldddd Halloween photos. These are the last of the Halloween photos in that binder. Remi's Halloween party at school in 1st grade. He dressed as Yu-Gi-Oh.

Oh, so I have never posted two photos in one entry so I don't know how to arrange them correctly, but I am sure you can figure out which is the baseball layout and which is the Halloween layout. ;)

LOAD Day 6 - I Read

Today's prompt was to use a self portrait. I have been wanting to do a layout about my love of reading so I did that today. I am on Goodreads and it has a tracker for how many books you have read in the year (I have read 43) and you can convert that to how many pages I was shocked to see I have read 16, 699 pages this year. WOW!). I listed the 43 books I have read since January but the number of stars I gave to book on Goodreads.

Supplies:
paper, flower sticker and journaling sticker - Bella Blvd (their new sports line believe it or not)
Books and loopy border - cut on the Silhouette
Title letters - Jillybean

LOAD Day 5 - Peyton at Happy Apple Farm

Today's prompt was to think about the things you usually do on a page - your "rules" for scrapbooking if you will. And then break the rules you set for yourself. I thought about what things I usually do when scrapbooking and then thought about what I could do differently. I used old product - I usually don't seem to go back into the old stuff preferring my newer goodies. I almost always scrap 12x12 so I made this 8 1/2 x 11. I most often stick with one manufacturer on a page because then I know it will all look nice together. So here I mixed a few manufacturers for the papers and embellishments. I NEVER cut photos into shapes so I cut a photo of apples into an oval. It is very rare for me not to journal on a page so I just put the most basic info on this. And finally, I double matted the photo and I usually don't mat photos at all.

The page is a scraplift from Scrapbook Trends Embellish Idea book. The original page on page 82 was by Christa Paustenbaugh.

LOAD Day 4 - Happy Halloween

This was kinda hard - just the basics. The prompt was just use the most basic supplies that you can. This feels pretty plain to me! There is a hand drawn black line that goes around the outside that got kind of cut off. And that does add something to the page, I think. But I decided before starting that I should be able to use photos, a title, journaling, patterned paper and just a few embellishments. So that is what I stuck with.

The paper is Making Memories, the chipboard embellishments are KI, tite cut on Silhouette.

LOAD 3 - Happy 5th Birthday

Today's prompt was to use pictures that you have had laying out to be scrapped. As soon as I read that I knew these were the photos. They were out with the paper from a few weeks/months ago so it is nice to have them scrapped. This is certainly no masterpiece of a layout but they are done.

LOAD Day 2 - Sugga's

Today's prompt was about laughter. When I thought about that I knew it had to be a page about hanging out with my aunts. They have such wonderful senses of humor!! We like to go to Sugga's and after a large amount of testing I have finally found a drink I like there - a lychee berry martini.

LOAD Day 1 - You Rock

The prompt for day 1 was to scrapbook a goal. Remi has always had the goal of getting his black belt in karate and even going beyond to an adult black belt. These are pictures from one of the tests for a step on his black belt, working toward a red and black belt.

Ballet Recital

I wanted to do something to enter in a Lifestyle Crafts contest. I love their dies and have lots that I use on a regular basis. When I was thinking about what to make I thought about a card or some home decor project or some sort of other project, but then I came back to the fact that I am a scrapbooker. That is what I do best and that is what I love. And that is why and what I love Lifestyle Crafts dies for. So I needed to do a scrapbook page for the contest.

I decided to pull out some pictures from Peyton's ballet recital last year. I used a mix of some My Mind's Eye papers, Karen Foster ballet rub ons, and some other embellishments from a Studio Calico kit. As far as Lifestyle Crafts dies I used: Lace Scallop, Nesting Frame 4, and the Wildflower Gift Set (title font and flower branch cut from vellum).
